Gardening

Galen gardening out at Jen and Ken's cabin.  The soil is in bad shape and will require some work to get things growing.

Jen and Ken have dogs, cats, chickens, geese, ducks, and pigeons that all get along nicely.  The hay bales are to keep them from eating up the garden area.

Another cloud and our temporary home

I got interested in clouds while living in Colorado last summer.

We made it to our home for the summer, are parked out on a friend's ranch where it is lovely and quiet.  Weather has mostly been wonderful except for one night that got down pretty close to freezing and windy afternoons.  Highs during the day are about 80 with 2% humidity.

Scary Cloud

We had some kind of weather to deal with every day on the road between Arkansas and Colorado but this was the most interesting.

I didn't get nervous about driving under the cloud until we were almost out from under it.  It looked far more intimidating at that point but caused no problem.

March Against Monsanto

The March was more of a stand against Monsanto.  This photo was taken in downtown Mountain View.  The Stone County Courthouse is behind the protesters.

Galen and Martin.  Martin is an excellent fiddle player with much knowledge about the history of old time music in the area.

A mini march through the pickin' park.

Wondering how you can support this cause?  Try to stop buying processed food and stick with fresh fruits and veggies, preferably locally grown.  Eat only grass fed beef.  Buy organic butter and cheese made from milk from grass fed cows.  Buy organic chicken and eggs.  Almost all pork is fed genetically altered soy and corn.  Read labels and vote for honest labeling.  Monsanto doesn't want to label foods as genetically altered because many people won't buy them because they care about making money - not about us.  Over 30 countries have banned genetically modified foods.  There must be a reason for that.  Do some research and find out for yourself what that is.

Views of Mountain View

Stone County is a dry county so the vice of choice is ice cream.  I recommend the black walnut.

Gotta have a music store in Mountain View!  There are frequent jams on the porch.

Jammin' under a tree in the pickin' park downtown.

The park has a name, Washington Park, but everyone still calls it the pickin' park.

There are several of these in town.  I have no idea why.

The office at Ozark RV Park.  Our mornings start with chatter on the porch on nice days and inside on not so nice days.  People jam here, too.

Our home at Ozark RV Park.

Bill and Susan jammin' on the porch.

Becky playing autoharp.

Ever seen a banjo drum?  It works!

Homesteaders

Galen and I once thought about being homesteaders but we decided to become full time RVers instead.  The Lundy family, friends of ours, are doing both and we had a great time visiting with them and their critters, especially the baby goats.  Jack, the dog, was told to sit for the photo but played dead instead.  Made for a fun photo!

Josh and the baby goats.  He is holding Lucy.

Baby Robins

The first photo I shot with my new camera.   The baby robins are growing up here at Ozark RV Park in Mountain View and it doesn't look like there is much room in the nest for them to grow much more.
