Aug 20 - Beaverhead County Museum

I hopped on Galen's bike this morning and went to the very nicely done Beaverhead County Museum in downtown Dillon.  I was allowed to take photos, but only without a flash so I didn't get very many good ones.  This one didn't start out all that great.  I worked on it in Photoshop so I could get it on my blog but I couldn't do this amazing fireplace justice.  All that is known about the man who built it is his first name and that he walked everywhere he went.  After I admired the fireplace, the very nice lady working in the museum told me about a wall a block away built by the same man.

Back inside the museum.  The jail gate on the left is made of wrought iron and was used at the jail in Armstead about 1907.  It took four men to lift it.  On the right is a cell door from the old Dillon jail used around 1886.

This is Beaverhead County's first flush-toilet outhouse and is located just outside the main part of the museum.

August 19 - Sparky's

Sparkys, once a garage, is now a good restaurant within walking distance of our campground in Dillon, MT.

July 8 - Media Meeting

Simon usually steals the show but he growled at the camera men so Jen, Ken, and Galen got on TV and Simon and I stayed out of the way.  After all the television interviews were over (there were three TV stations so the interviews took quite a while) we all went to dinner together, which was so enjoyable and relaxing after all the media to-do.  We hugged goodbye for now but a bond has been formed between our two families and we will stay in touch.

On the way home, we noticed snow on Pikes Peak - something we hadn't seen since we arrived here.  According to the evening news, there was enough snow to close the Pikes Peak Highway.

June 30 - The Unofficial Meeting

We unofficially met Dillon and his family in a park a week before we met with the media.  It was easier on all of us emotionally to do it this way and it turned out great.  Here is the whole gang heading for the trikes.

As you can see, everyone had a blast and then we all went to dinner together at the Mason Jar.
