April 17 - Boise, ID

First United Methodist Church in Boise...

... Also known at The Cathedral of the Rockies

I was fascinated by this lovely fountain in the Narthex of the church.

The state capitol of Idaho

Taken in front of the Capitol.  I was laughing so much I was afraid I'd blurred the photo but it turned out pretty well.

April 12 - Springville, Utah

This is the RV park we stayed in Springville, just south of Salt Lake City.  You can see just one snowy mountain in the background, but there were several.  Very pretty!  We discovered East Bay RV park by accident when we stopped at Flying J to buy fuel across the road - Very handy and easy in/easy out.  BTW, diesel fuel is over $4 a gallon these days.

April 11- Arches National Park

This is our third trip to Arches and we never get over how amazing it is.

This was taken on Park Avenue.

Double Arch

The Gossips

Balanced Rock

This is the road we'll take when we leave Moab tomorrow.  It was taken from part way up the road into Arches National park.  This is the site of the Moab Fault where the land on one side of the road sank 2600' about six million years ago.

April 10 - Moab

We did a bit of sightseeing and geocaching today.  These two photos were taken at a desert wetlands reserve.  I lost my favorite geocaching pen somewhere on this trail.

One of the many mountain bike trails in the area.  This one went along cliffs and through a stream and is impassable when the nearby river floods the stream.  Not a good place for my trike so we just walked a little bit of it.

April 9 - On our way to Moab, UT

We passed through Cortez, CO, were out of the mountains and safe from snowy mountain weather.  NOT!  Just a few miles out of Cortez it started snowing hard.

April 8 - Rt 64

We left South Fork on Friday afternoon instead of Saturday to stay ahead of a storm.  There was a lot of snowing going on at Wolf Creek Pass so we decided not to risk it and headed south and then west on Rt. 64 on our way to Chama, NM.  The road climbed to over 10,500' and was quite snowy at the top.  The road was dry, there were were no major hairpin turns, and all the climbs were much easier on the truck because of the cooler temps.  There was very little traffic and very few homes.

We probably wouldn't have taken this road if we'd known it climbed to 10,500', but are glad we didn't know because it was a lovely drive.

April 7 - 9000'

Galen and Jen went for a walk in a winter wonderland about 1000' higher than South Fork and got some gorgeous photos.

Serious snow!
