There were once stands (inns) every 15 miles along the Trace, but this is the only original stand still standing. Trace travelers didn't sleep in this building but slept in a building behind the house called Sleepy Hollow. A man, wife, and eleven children - 10 boys and 1 girl, lived in the house.
